Letter of the Day OR Week?
Maternelle avec Mme Andrea has a good blog post (in English) about this: Une lettre par jour… ou une lettre par semaine?
She recommends doing a Letter per Day because otherwise you're too far into the school year before certain letters get introduced. Her conclusion was that she saw more improvement in students when they moved faster through the alphabet.
I plan to follow her approach of doing 2-3 rounds of Letter a Day. While my goal is to do a letter a day, we might spend a couple of days on tricky letters. I'm grateful for homeschooling so we can progress at our own pace!
1. Letter a Day Round 1
* She recommends focusing as much as possible on the sound each letter makes
* At the end evaluate their progress so you know what to focus on
2. Letter a Day Round 2
* Repeated exposure helps solidify learning
* She recommends focusing on correct letter formation this time
* Here I plan to do a full week for vowels and stick with a day for the consonants
